Detroit Asthma Collaborative – Asthma Awareness Event 2026

Join us for Breathe Better. Live Well., a free community health gathering focused on practical asthma education, respiratory resources, and family wellness. Whether you are navigating an asthma diagnosis, caring for a child with symptoms, or simply want to learn more about lung health, stop by to connect directly with healthcare professionals in an open, welcoming environment.

What to Expect

  • Health Screenings: Free on-site asthma screenings and lung function checks.

  • Asthma Action Plans: Step-by-step guidance and educational materials tailored to managing daily symptoms and triggers.

  • Inhaler Technique Demos: Hands-on instruction and practical tips to ensure you or your loved ones get the full benefit from medications.

  • Ask the Experts: Open Q&A sessions with health professionals ready to answer your questions.

  • Community Resources: Access to local support networks, referral services, and wellness programs.

  • Food & Prizes: Complimentary lunch, refreshments, door prizes, and giveaways throughout the day.

Good to Know

  • Admission: Completely free and open to all ages—no advance registration required.

  • Format: Drop in at any point during event hours.

  • Transportation Assistance: Rides may be available for individuals with Medicaid or a Medicaid Health Plan. Contact your health plan at least 3 business days before the event to arrange transportation.

The Allergy & Asthma Network’s Trusted Messengers program is a special project that helps people with asthma, allergies, and similar health problems. This program works to make healthcare better, teaches important information to patients, and creates a caring and supportive community.
